2024 Shark Fishing Rig - West Coast - Specifications:

- 10/0 Mutsu Extra Circle Hook (offset) for maximum hook-ups and easy un-hooking

- 250lb wire bite leader, premium 300lb saltwater swivels and 200lb mono rub leader

- Team this rig up with one of our Wired Sputnik Surf Sinkers & Bait Elastic for a great surf shark fishing set-up

Bait-wise, we recommend using half a medium-size fresh mackerel or bonito head sections with this rig, but surf perch and croaker head section baits are also good bait options for targeting any predatory species. We strongly recommend the use of Heavy ASF Bait Elastic to secure the bait to the rig.

Simply tie the rig to your mono casting leader using a Palomar or Grinner Knot, clip on a Surf Sinker, attach your bait, and you're ready to cast out or deploy via kayak, drone or slide, and fish.

Each rig comes with full instructions on the back and a QR code to link to our tips and video page for easy reference.

Recommended set-up with this rig:

12–15ft Heavy surf combo (spinning or conventional) or 6-10ft conventional rod and 20-50-size reel, 50–100lb braid or 40–60lb mono main line, 15-25ft of 80-100lb mono casting leader / top shot.

Instructions:

1) Tie rig to main line (highly recommended: 15-25 foot, 80-100lb mono casting leader / top shot) via last swivel using a palomar or uni knot.

2) Rig bait - fresh, large half mackerel; bonito heads, salmon strips, croaker chunks, surf perch heads and ray sections etc are ideal. Hook through lip or lightly into meat and cartilage so point and gape of hook are fully exposed.

3) Add a few turns of ASF Bait Elastic (Heavy) to secure bait in place for maximum hook ups. Clip on sinker and cast or deploy.

4) For kayak deployment, use a 10-15lb burlap sand bag with a 6-inch, 10-15lb mono-break-off line attached to sinker clip if deploying in heavy current or at distances of more than 150 meters. Otherwise use an ASF Surf Sinker 8oz.

5) For use off a boat, attach large deep-drop sinker to sinker clip if bottom fishing. attach a balloon float with elastic band to the mono top-shot (highly recommended: 15-25 foot, 80-100lb mono top shot) plus attach 2-4oz sinker to sinker clip to keep bait low in  the water if fishing from boat and targeting upper layers.

6) This an ideal drone fishing rig for sharks and surf predators - just attach a separate length (4ft) of mono with a loop to the last swivel, and secure loop in the drone deployment device to keep mainline away from drone rotors.
