Tournament-quality Sputnik Surf Fishing Weights - also called Sputnik Sinkers, Spider Weights, Breakaway Weights, Grapnel Sinkers, No-Roll Sinkers, or Beach Casting Weights - with break-out wire design in packs of two, three or six in five different sizes: 80g / 3oz, 100g / 3.5oz, 150g / 5oz, 200g / 7oz, 250g / 9oz.

These are the best sinkers for pier or surf fishing in any sort of waves or current when you want the bait to stay in one place, and not wash or roll down the current. They're the number one choice for anyone looking to fish from a beach or pier with fresh bait for any species.

The unique long-tail design ensures a stable flight for longer casting distances - especially when using dropper loop and pulley-style rigs for fish like sharks, surf perch, drum, redfish and croaker - and the heavy-duty double-wrapped eye will hold secure on any force of cast.

This design features extra-long stainless steel arms to securely anchor your rig in place until the fish bites, when they release under pressure and can be easily reeled in.

What is the best size of sinker to use for Surf Fishing?

80g / 3oz, 100g / 3.5oz: The best size sinkers for general surf fishing for Croaker, Surf Perch, Dum, Whiting, Pompano, Jacks, Catfish etc with small baits and dropper loops, fish-finder rigs, high-low rigs, Carolina rigs etc.

150g / 5oz , 200g / 7oz, 250g / 8.8oz - Heavier sizes suited to securing larger baits on heavier tackle in bigger surf and strong currents, making these the best sinkers for surf shark fishing, casting big baits from the beach, land-based shark fishing, big striped bass chunking rigs, sturgeon delta fishing, bat rays, leopard sharks, soupfin sharks and other similar predatory species from the beach, pier or jetty.

Tips for using ASF Sputnik Surf Fishing Sinkers:

1) For ease of storage and despatch, the sinkers are packaged with the arms closed -  but before using these should be bent out to a roughly 80-degree angle to the main sinker stem with a pair of pliers, gripping the arm from the section nearest the start of the U-shaped bend and bending outwards away from the sinker.

2) With the arms hanging loose under the sinker, pinch the U section inwards so it grips the sinker firmly, but doesn't lock shut. This will ensure the arms can break out when a fish hits or you need to reel in. Position arms back in place, both gripping the sinker body with arms pointing outwards, before casting.

3) If you're finding the sinker arms are dislodging too easily, position the arms so they're hanging freely under the sinker and squeeze the U shape section so it grips the sinker tighter.

If they're still breaking out due to strong currents or large amounts of seaweed / kelp, lock the sinker arms in place with a sturdy cable tie and trim the tag end tight. You can also double up sinkers if dropping a bait from kayak, boat or drone.
